THE SERVO CNC SYSTEM

Versatility and Flexibility at your fingertips

With virtually all firms facing the issues of downsizing, tighter budgets, and the need to be more market competitive, there's a strong likelihood you,re looking for ways to boost manufacturing productivity.

The SERVO CNC system is designed so that machinists and operators at all skill levels can become immediately more productive, even those who have no training in CNC or advanced math. By reducing programming time and improving productivity and quality from part to part, you'll be able to produce more parts in minimal time.

What makes the SERVO CNC system unique is its versatility and flexibility. It lets you decide which operating method to use to produce your part. While still offering all the benefits of a manual mill with power feed and DRO operation.

Operating Methods

TEACH MODE lets you "step on board" without any CNC training or experience.MACHINED PART TEACH MODE In about an hour, you can learn to teach the machine point-to-point and angular moves, as well as make one-of-a-kind and production run parts. Using the SERVO pendant, simply move each axis to the desired position to teach the system how to cut the first part. Press the SET key to store each move and feed rate. Then, press the PLAY key followed by RUN key to replay the program. Use of the PC-driven control is not required at this level. However, as you build a library of pendant programs, you may want to save them in the system's main computer memory.

This simple, angular-shaped part was taught and stored in the memory of the SERVO pendant The ability to store programs is ideal when production runs are required.

CONVERSATIONAL MODE offers the simplest way to create 2 to 4 axis CNC parts.MACHINED PART CONVERSATIONAL MODE With its powerful canned cycles and graphics capabilities, Conversational mode provides all the navigation tools you'll need to easily direct your way through unfamiliar and often difficult programming operations. The only prerequisite is an ability to read a part blueprint.

A novice CNC programmer created this part in Conversational mode using blueprint dimensions. Programming and machining took only 30 minutes versus 2 hours manually.

Using the SERVO operator console, you simply follow the prompted instruction messages as you fill in the blanks to questions about your part. On-line, context sensitive help screens are readily available whenever you need a detailed explanation of a function.

A series of events are created to drive the cutting tool in the areas to be machined. An event can perform a simple task such as an XY position change or relatively complex "canned cycles," such as pocket milling or peck drilling a bolt circle.

When your part contains tangent arcs or intersecting lines, "embedded trig help" is a unique and useful feature. Your original input data is saved, ensuring that the geometry needed to build your program never gets "lost" in a separate help function. You can easily retrieve original input data when inevitable engineering or manufacturing changes are needed.

You can select from any of four views that display the tool path graphics before running your part.

CNC MODE is the programming method of choice for making complex shapes and sculptured surfaces. MACHINED PART CNC MODE

Programming/machining took only 1 hour in CNC mode, versus 8 hours manually.

Requiring a knowledge of G and M codes, CNC mode is designed so the SERVO CNC controls movements allowing for features such as 2-axis circular interpolation (XY, XZ, YZ), 4-axis continuous linear interpolation, cutter diameter compensation, canned cycles, mirror image, scaling, rotation, and more.

You'll also find quick access to an easy-to-use tool table that lets you enter, edit or check tool information, plus set tool length offsets semi-automatically.

As in Conversational mode, a wealth of information about your part is available before ever machining it. View a model of the entire tool path or portion thereof, then compute the estimated cycle time for running your program.

Last but not least, CNC mode offers the advantage of being CAD/CAM compatible with most commercially available packages, including Servo's own Quick'n'Easy CAM system.
