2-to 3-axis PC-driven CAM system with CNC Utilities

PARTS MACHINED WITH QUICK'N'EASY

Servo draws the line on affordable CAM with many powerful capabilities combined into a 2-to 3-axis PC driven CAM system

The CAM system for NC and CNC machine tools.

With its easy-to-use, menu driven format, Servo Quick'n'Easy CAM offers advanced programming capabilities that let you draw your part both quickly and accurately, print a hard copy on most printers or plotters, and generate a tool path customized to your machine control.

SAMPLE DRAWINGMACHINED PART OF SAMPLE DRAWING

Using Quick'n'Easy CAM, the operator drew this part and created a CNC pocketing program in less than five minutes.

You can also import a DXF drawing or ASCII data file from another CAD system using two way DXF or ASCII translators.

Additional capabilities of CNC Utilities program

What's more, using the Quick'n'Easy CNC Utilities (included with Quick'n'Easy CAM) you can project onto a 3D surface, as well as create isometric views of the CNC tool path.

Additional features include rotary table axis support, Arc2Line conversion, RS-232 communication, and more. Together, these powerful CNC programming capabilities can save you thousands of dollars when compared to similar CAD/CAM products currently available.

Post processors are available for numerous machines--including Anilam, Bandit, Boss, Centroid, Dynapath, Fadal, Fagor, Fanuc, GE, Hurco, Linde, Mazak, Okuma Retrotek, Servo and others. Customized processors can be created by the user or Servo Products Company.

Powerful drawing capabilities

Quick'n'Easy CAM lets you quickly explore various design alternatives using features such as Cartesian and polar coordinates in both absolute and relative terms, trim, break into two or more pieces, fillet with auto-trimming, automatic tangency for lines and arcs, auto center point, auto midpoint, auto endpoint, auto perpendicular, auto intersect, ellipse, B-Spline and Bezier curves, asymmetrical scaling, mirror image, rotate, translate, plus offset and text with three fonts.

You also have the ability to create your own fonts or import text from art programs such as Corel Draw and others.

Additional Quick'n'Easy CAM features you will find useful include unlimited zooming capability by "window" or "in" and "out" methods, automatic fit-to-screen (by pressing just one key), plus unlimited erase/un-ease capability and "erase duplicate" functions. A real time drawing update allows you to change the part drawing or add or erase entities while creating the tool path.

Types of tool paths:

SCREEN SHOWING CONTOURING

CONTOUR: Drives the tool around the outside or inside of the part outline.

ANOTHER CONTOURING SCREEN

SUPPORTS: Pick/chain, sketch, spiral zigzag, and surface of revolution contouring

POCKET MILL SCREEN

POCKET Clears interior of a closed shape. Unlimited island avoidance, plus automatic rough and finish on every island

ENGRAVE SCREEN

ENGRAVE; Runs tool down center line of part geometry. Select sections by "color" and "window" methods.

HOLE DRILLING SCREEN

DRILL: Supports peck and tapering peck drilling sub-routine calls, chip break cycles, and more.

Main Menu Choices

Draw: Draw points, lines, arcs, fillets, rectangles, B-Spline and Bezier curves, ellipses and text.

Erase: Erase entities and groups of entities by type, color, window, duplicate entities and un-erasing.

File: Save, load, merge, import/export, and print drawings. Also make manual editing changes to CNC programs of any size and run other programs from within Quick'n'Easy CAM.

Modify: Trim entities together at their Intersection points, reverse an are, break entities into two or more individual entities, or extend or shorten an entity by dragging it with the mouse.

Transform: Mirror image, rotate, scale, offset and translate an entity or group of entities. Draw a section of the part, then copy, rotate, mirror, etc., to create the rest.

Analyze: Obtain the radius of an are, XY location of a line/point, or the distance and angle between two points on the part.

Screen: Zoom window, zoom in and out, fit the drawing to the screen, zoom to a scale, change the color of one or more entities, and clear the screen. Zooming can also be done with the function keys.

Tool path: Create the CNC program for the part drawing. Powerful left, right, or no cutter compensation can be used when contouring and pocketing for roughing and finishing passes. This allows for climb and conventional cutting inside and outside the part geometry. Cutter size, depth of cut, number of passes, and other parameters are easily adjusted for each tool path segment until the part is complete. You can even change the part drawing and load in other drawings while creating a tool path.

Color: Select the pen color for drawing.

Grid : If "on," sketched entities snap to the nearest grid. Grid size is adjustable.

Function Keys

F1: Online help screens.

F2: Fit to screen. Entire drawing appears on the screen.

F3: Redraw. Clears screen and regenerates the drawing very fast

F4: Zoom out. Drawing appears smaller.

F5: Zoom in. Drawing appears larger.

F6: Zoom to a scale. Shows part size as a scale of full size.

F7: Animate cutting tool around the part. Used when running the tool path to create CNC program and when backplotting an existing CNC program.

F8: Grid on or off. The grid size is selected with "Grid" on the menu.

F11: Zoom window. Draw a rectangle around the area you wish to zoom in on. The number of zooms is limited only by system resolution (.000001").

Quick'n'Easy CNC Utilities

Abs2Rel: Converts CNC programs written in absolute (G90) coordinates to relative (incremental G91) coordinates. Also converts incremental to absolute.

Arc2Line: Converts circular interpolated (G02, G03) moves into short lines. Adjustable chordal deviation is used to determine how many points to create. Optionally breaks long lines into shorter lines.

CncComm: RS-232 communications to and from the machine tool, paper punch, or other RS-232 device. Supports hardware and Xon/Xoff handshaking, baud rates up to 115200, start bits, stop bits, parity EIA, ASCII, ISO.

DXF2CNC: Converts DXF files from CAD programs (such as AutoCAD and Corel Draw) into ready-to run CNC programs. Also converts CNC programs into DXF files for loading into CAD programs.

Edit: Calls up the text editor for manual CNC program modification. Edit files of any size even with limited computer memory!

Ellipse: Generates a CNC program for cutting an ellipse. Width, height, tilt angle, etc., are fully adjustable.

Engrave: Generates a CNC program for cutting letters (upper and lower case), numbers and punctuation. Parameters include line of text; size; left, right or center justification; spacing; depth of cut, and; clearance. Very easy and very fast.

Inch2Met: Converts CNC programs written using inch coordinates to millimeters, or vice versa.

Merge: Joins two or more CNC programs Into one. Automatically adjusts starting and ending parameters. Can also renumber the sequence "N" numbers.

Plot: Draws the cutter path of a CNC program on the computer screen for verifying proper tool motion. Has a coordinate display and can be single stepped for easy error location. Top, front, side or isometric view at any angle.

The ability to project onto a three-dimensional surface is one of the most powerful features of the Quick'n'Easy CNC Utilities.

ProjOnto: Projects a CNC part onto a 3D surface. Six surface types available: cone, cylinder, sphere, tilted plane pyramid, and torus. Adds Z-axis moves as required throughout the NC program.

Rotate: Converts a CNC program to produce a part at any angle. Also used to Copy-Rotate a part multiple times about a center point or Curve the part around a radius. Program the part at its simplest angle then let Rotate do the hard work rotating into final position.

Scale: Converts a CNC program to produce any size part by multiplying the X, Y, Z, I and J axes by any value. Also allows "mirror imaging" to be done, automatically switching G02, G03 and all axes required.

Spiral: Generates CNC code for two axis, three axis helical, three-axis conical, and three-axis spherical spirals. Can be used for "thread-milling"even on machines that do not have this feature.

YtoC: Converts Y-axis to C-axis for rotary table use. Actually, any axis designator can be used. Automatically converts linear and circular moves by telling it the cylinder diameter. Wraps any part around a cylinder.

Do more...with more features for less money than similar CAM software packages

<--Our designer drew these parts with Quick'n'Easy CAM and then generated a tool path for subsequent machining on a three-axis SERVO 3000 CNC Mill.

The designs for these small parts were created with the Quick'n'Easy CAM program. The finished samples were machined on a SERVO IMPACT System 2 CNC MINI-MILL.->
