SPINDLE OPTIONS for the MODEL M-7900 SERIES SERVO IMPACT CNC MINI-MILL
The IMPACT CNC Mini-Mill Model M-7900 series offers you the opportunity to select the most advantageous spindle characteristics for the work you will be doing - RPM's, torque, and type of spindle, including speeds to 200,000 rpm, up to 1.7 hp, and air bearing spindles. This is particularly appropriate for production applications as well as prototype and design applications where the material is consistent and is one, such as steel, that is not handed well by the standard Servo mill head. The required Spindle Mounting Bracket (#58333-x) is designed and manufactured to fit your chosen spindle. We can mount cylinder-type spindles up to about 2-3/8"/60 mm diameter.
The following factory-installed high-performance spindles are offered for the IMPACT Model M-7900 series. We suggest you consult the spindle manufacturer for specifications and suitability for your application. Please consult the factory for pricing.
1) AETNA MANUFACTURING COMPANY - Kenosha, WI Phone: 414-654-1170 (Aetna Model No, 715-6100C) Cylinder-type spindle with fan mounted on top Spindle speed range: 5,000-32,000 rpm under load; 40,000 free turning rpm. Provides .6 hp constant torque. TIR: .0002' or better. Motor type: AC/DC with brushes and armature, fan-cooled Brush service life: approx. 500 hours per drill. Noise rating: 85-90 dB at 3 ft from spindle. Cylinder diameter for mounting is 2.5". Electrical: 120V, 50/60 Hz, 1 phase. Collets available: 1/8": 3/16": 1/4", 5/16" double wrench type. Quick change collets are not available. Published spindle capabilities: drills maximum 3/16" in steel and 1/4" in gray iron; end mills maximum ¼" steel, 5/16" in gray ton and ½" in aluminum. WARRANTY: 6 months,
2) AIR TURBINE TECHNOLOGY - Boca Raton, FL Phone: 561-994-0500 (Several models available) Very low-cost air-driven spindles feature patented mechanical governor that allows more air as the load increases. Spindles are preset with one rpm per spindle. Choice of 25,000 rpm with .76 hp; 30,000 rpm with .83 hp; and 40,000 rpm with 68 hp. Other spindles to 64000 rpm are available. With only .001' TIR, the collet system is not high precision, but is suitable for woodworking and less critical applications that require power at low cost Model 230A is 30 oz and has a noise rating of 78 dB. Maximum shank capacity is ¼": WARRANTY: 6 months,
3) NSK AMERICA - Arlington Heights, II Phone: 847-843-7664 (Several models available) NSK manufactures a line of lightweight air-driven spindles for a variety of applications. They are very smooth running and can be purchased in the Planet series with speeds to 200,000 rpm. These spindles are an excellent value for electrode milling, die milling, engraving, and drilling small diameter holes. WARRANTY: 6 mo. spindle; 3 mo. attachments.
4) PRECISE CORPORATION - Racine, WI Phone: 414-632-6173 (Several models available) Precise manufactures a variety of fan-coded and liquid-coded high-frequency driven spindles. The smaller sizes can be installed on the IMPACT Mini-mill including the SC-40, SC-80 and SC-62 series. The SC-62 provides up to 60,000 rpm and up to 1.5 hp, with quick change collets. The smaller SC-40 spindles have speeds to 120,000 rpm. With speeds to 54,000 rpm, the fan-coded spindles are less costly, but have a dB rating of about 100+. WARRANTY: 6 months.
5) WESTWIND AIRBEARING SPINDLES - Burlington, MA Phone: 781-229-6911 (Several models available) Westwind manufactures a variety of cost-effective, vibration-free spindles which are suitable for fine engraving, drilling and milling surfaces. The air-turbine models have spindle speeds to about 70,000 rpm. Westwind also offers high-frequency driven air-bearing spindles featuring various speeds and spindle power. The high rpm range available allows the use of small solid carbide engraving cutters and end mills. Chip load is low, so there is very little cutter whip or design distortion. Also, there are no ball bearings to wear out Good applications include die milling, EDM electrode milling, and intraocular lens milling. The Westwind model D-1090-01 is shown on the 7900 Series data sheet WARRANTY: 1 year.
FACTORY INSTALLED SPINDLES
If the above spindles are purchased by the dealer or customer and furnished to Servo Products Company for factory mounting, there will be a $250 charge to perform this service. Spindles furnished by Servo Products Company are exempt from the $250 charge. Factory mounting will insure that the spindle tram (sweep) to the table top is less than .0002: Precision alignment of the spindle may be accomplished in the field and Servo will provide instructions on performing this operation. Note: If the spindle is not mounted correctly, accuracy, super fine detail, and spindle warranty may be affected
WARRANTY STATEMENTS
Warranty of Servo furnished spindles will begin on the date of the machine shipment from Servo Products, Pasadena, CA. All others will begin on the date the spindle is shipped from the spindle manufacturer. The spindle warranty is furnished by the spindle manufacturer. Service, support and warranty repair of the spindle will be performed by the manufacturer.
Each spindle manufacturer has published a list of conditions under which the warranty will be honored A copy of the spindle warranty conditions is available from Servo. Spindle manufacturers upon receipt of defective spindle, during warranty period will inspect it to decide if the repair required is due to a manufacturing defect or misuse by the customer.
Servo Products Company does not warrant the suitability of any spindle listed here for any specific application.
